So after my first year in college I found out that the environment is in real big trouble (or so all of the data leads us to believe). When I have more time I'll post some of the reasons and maybe even my term paper if it seems to fit in properly. For now, trust me that its pretty clutch if you do things with environmental conservation in mind:
- Try to ride your bike instead of driving your car if you're going someplace close; this also saves you gas money and keeps you healthy!
- Also, save yourself some money on your (or your parents') electricity bill...turn off lights when you aren't using them (this means trying to use sunlight as a light source during the day as well :D ).
- On a similar note to the previous point, and this one is really important for us younger generation types, don't leave your computer on with AIM running just for the sake of having an away message up. I know its fun and what not, but its such a huge, uneccessary waste of environmental resources (sorry to any AIM addicts reading this :( ).
- When you do buy a car, consider gas mileage. I heard a random fact that if the minimum MPG requirement for cars in the US were raised only 8 MPG, we would be independent of foreign oil needs...no more need to fight wars in far off places for their precious hydrocarbons.
